Today, BWUA began the school year with its 6th annual Freshman Luncheon. The luncheon is an annual event held in the beginning of the year for all African American freshmen to come learn more about BWUA and to listen to addresses from special guests Scott Mills, COO of BET Networks and Georgette Chapman Phillips, Vice Dean of Wharton. Mrs. Chapman Phillips welcomed the new students to the University and reiterated that she was one of many resources readily available to them. Scott Mills followed with an address urging students to ‘get out of the conventional line’ in order to achieve extraordinary success. Mills recounted his own Penn story to the freshmen and truly motivated the students to take advantage of the resources available in order to truly succeed at Penn.
